Then I found a little co-op group of guys from North America that play user created coop missions. There is one European PvP server (Arma.RU) that is always populated during euro time, but for the most part you log in and find 50+ servers up and only 3 populated with one or two people in each. It has become a textbook example of how not to produce a videogame.

but since they can't agree on who is to pay for the next patch, these officially adopted mods are also waiting in the wings.

There is also a sound mod that is done by the community too, awaiting official inclusion. That being said, they did add "Sturmtruppen" in one of the patches which was a mod made by a community member. This was the nail in the coffin for many casual players who expected the game to be made considerably better by mods the way Arma is.

The devs say their 1.04 patch has been ready for ages, but DS must pay BI some royalties each time they update the game, and DS is refusing to do so! WTF! People are trying to get refunds and really blowing things out of proportion.Īdditionally, the developers announced that they misread their contract and that open modding for the game is going to be pretty much non-existant, though there will be a sort of closed modding. Unfortunately, Deep Silver and BI are now locked in a legal battle over royalties which is preventing any updates being made to the game. So, the Developers are actually pretty cool, and they visit their forums (another issue is the game actually has 3 forums, so there isn't one place to learn all info about the game) and try their best to keep us abreast of issues but there is a big block to any progress. This has killed the PvP MP scene as no one wants to play as the Soviets.

The 1.03 patch brought a slew of new fixes, new weapons (G43 and SVT-40), but it also brought the Pumpkinhead bug, whereby 90% of Soviet infantry faces (the skin on their heads, hands etc) glows a bright orange and can be seen from miles away. The game is great fun, but is severely struggling due to DeepSilver. I really quite enjoy this game, but it has some very serious issues. All of that was too much for me to get into with the Arma series as I'm not terribly interested in modern era stuff, but for this WWII theme I was willing to put up with it and learn because the game is just so damn awesome. You have the same style of squads, the same commands, the same map functions etc. Well its pretty much exactly like the Arma games in terms of how you operate in the world, thats what I meant. This isn't representative of the rest of ArmA at all. I would have also quite liked to have seen Fallschirmjäger and transport planes for the Germans, even if it wasn't historically correct for this area/period. They could have also really added in Polish forces as independents really Would be great to be able to raid civilian farms for supplies etc, using civilian guns until you can get proper guns etcĮdit: Also, i'm a little surprised to see that there's no Tiger I's, Panzer III's, KV-1's, KV-2's, IS-1's, SU-85/SU-100's, IL-2's, any of the Russian biplanes (which would have been cool), Tupolev bombers, German medium bombers and so on. Maybe they'll be inspired by the Resistance expansion from the original Operation Flashpoint and add in an expansion with a partisan campaign. They left in the "Expansions" option from the Arma2 menu so i'm sure they're going to add something in eventually. I want to make some resistance operations with them. I'm also sad there is no partisan, I hope they 'll add them later, it's a very important part of this war.
